EXERCISE “COLD RESPONSE 2010”
All times are UTC
A major military exercise will take place within
Norway FIR/Bodo AOR.
The exercise will take place in the time period 22
FEB 2010 - 03 MAR 2010.
Due to heavy traffic, delays to non-exercise traffic
may periodically occur on ground as well as in flight.
IFR flights can expect alternative routes and/or
alternative cruising levels.
The following danger areas are established to ensure
a safe conduct of the air traffic during this military
exercise:

11. AIRSPACE RESTRICTIONS:
All non-exercise air operations within the areas
should be avoided, except when prior permission has
been obtained from the appropriate Air Traffic
Control unit.
Note: When exercise areas are active, rerouting can
be expected by the appropriate Air Traffic Control
unit.
Exceptions:
The restrictions do not apply to ambulance-flights
with priority, search and rescue- and police missions.

12. BUFFER ZONES AND SEPARATION:
12.1 Horizontally:
The Air Traffic Services shall maintain standard IFR
separation between non-participating aircraft and the
published limits of the areas.
12.2 Vertically:
Participating aircraft shall be considered to utilize the
danger airspace up to and including published upper
and lower vertical limits. Over, and where applicable,
under the danger areas, the Air Traffic Services shall
provide standard IFR vertical separation.
13. PROCEDURES FOR EXERCISE TRAFFIC:
Exercise aircraft, operating from bases outside the
exercise areas will transit to and from the areas
according to national regulations
Within the temporary danger areas, exercise aircraft
may conduct unrestricted operations without
reference to any ATS-unit. Aircraft profiles may
include high speed manoeuvres and formation flying.
14. PROCEDURES FOR NON-EXERCISE
TRAFFIC:
14.1 VFR-flights:
Non-participating aircraft should avoid danger areas
in the published hours.
Air Traffic Services may restrict access for VFR
flights to operate within ENEV CTR during the
exercise periods.
Exceptions: Individual flights which are permitted
prior to coordination with military coordination units.
14.2 IFR-flights:
Due to scale of exercise and the lateral extension of
the areas, IFR-flights can expect alternative routes,
alternative cruising levels and delays on ground, as
well as en-route.
Air Traffic Services will also issue clearances that
will make it possible to penetrate the danger areas
when active. Schedule IFR-flights to and from the
airports in Tromso, Bardufoss, Evenes and Narvik
will be coordinated through the area
