В общем, проблема совместимости. Если интересно, то я написал письмо автору программы и он ответил:
AR5 is very (VERY) old software now (>24 years) and problems like this are likely related to something in your Windows version. I haven't seen that messge on ancient Windows2000 or WindowsXP.
If you click on the info link, you will see an explanation that this feature has limited usefulness anyway. It was only incorporated by special request.
It is very old, Ivan. I am not working on it now. I retired from work some years ago. It uses a VERY old database system which needs to be installed with the program. Another problem is that the installer itself is 16 bit and won't run on Win10 etc. All the tools are VERY out of date.
The best thing is to run it on an old version of Windows. To do that you could install a copy of WinXP in a virtual machine. You may find a copy on ebay perhaps. For a VM I use VirtualBox running on Linux but there are several VMs you can use to run on Windows or Linux. AR5 runs fine on XP as far as I know. You can have that VM on your main system PC and run up XP within the VM whenever you want to use AR5.
